Venue: Mount Austin Primary School (MAPS)
Children and Young People (6years and older) and from all backgrounds are invited to attend the Annual Wafrica Intercultural Program!
In 2016, the program will focus on; Language and Literacy, Arts, Dance and Intercultural Activities a Science Workshop and Digital Technology Exploration.
Special Event: Capoeira on Wednesday 13 January by a visiting Artist
Capoeira is simultaneously a dance, a martial art, and a game. Created by the Africans brought to Brazil as slaves beginning in the 16th century. Capoeira combines music, song, movement and ritual into a game. The game of Capoeira.
Project Bantu (Sydney) is a program that introduces the Afro-Brazilian art form of Capoeira Angola to young people. The project combines the healing potential of musical and physical expression to provide a range of social and learning outcomes. It aims to empower young people by giving them confidence in their Ability to succeed and face the challenges of life.
Excursion: Thursday 14 January to Junee Pool ($10 per child)
Transport, Slides, BBQ and lots of fun games
The WIP will end with a party for all participants on Friday 15th January 2016.
ALL CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE BETWEEN THE AGES OF 6 YEARS AND 18 YEARS ARE ENCOURAGE TO ATTEND (Toddlers or Pre-School Children are not included)
ALL CHILDREN SHOULD BRING ALONG THEIR OWN LUNCH
